This award signifies that the individual has caught the eye of the crown. Their efforts to better the kingdom have been noted.
From the West Kingdom College of Heralds website: "An Award of Arms is the first level of 'armigerous' award. It confers the right to bear [heraldic arms] (sic). It is given usually for service or other significant contribution to the well-being of the Kingdom or Principality, usually at the local level. There is no token given. Abbrev: AA or AoA."
Honorifics
Recipients of an Award of Arms may style themselves Lord/Lady or an equivalent title in another language.
