History
Name/device originally registered in February, 1995 as Battle Rock, Canton of, this group is now a Stronghold.
The first SCA event held on Okinawa was on 23 March, 1984. Back then, the group was (unofficially) called Ile of the Blue Mists. Though the group's history records several tournaments from 1984-1986, it was not until 1992 that the group attempted to register a name and device. The name submitted, Canton of Chuzan, was returned as a conflict with the current name of an island just off the coast of China. In the LOAR, it was stated that the device was returned for lack of a name (since the name submission was rejected), and when the group resubmitted with the name Canton of Battle Rock in 1995, they submitted (and passed) the same device. This device, still borne by the Stronghold today, is blazoned thus:
- Per chevron azure and vert, on a sun within a laurel wreath Or a phoenix rousant to sinister wings addorsed gules.
